Medvedev called the goal of Russia in Ukraine
Russia has established hostilities in Ukraine in order to prevent the excess of a world war – and so far the situation persists, but nevertheless, “the first angel blew.” About this in an interview with the French TV channel LCI declared Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.
In his opinion, if Ukraine had expected to join NATO and “some kind of crisis, the Ukrainian leader had a crazy idea to start aggression against Russia, this would be the beginning of an international war.” Medvedev noted that “Russia’s vital interests are already under threat,” and that is why the military operation was launched. “On the focus on the defense of Donbass, the demilitarization of the Ukrainian armed forces and the denazification of Ukrainian territory,” he added. The decision to resume hostilities, according to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, was forced.
“Eight years <…> Russia suppresses to reason with the authorities of Ukraine, NATO, the USA. Nobody ever wanted to listen to us,” Medvedev complained.
A special personal attitude to what is happening in the course of the “Russophobic course” of the collective West, admitting that he had previously adhered to a more liberal position, but changed both his opinion and rhetoric. “There is nothing surprising in this,” Medvedev explained in an interview that he “serves his country,” and Western sanctions “do not bother him.” He noted that democracy is not “the end point of human development” because “each country goes its own way.”
Medvedev believes that the conflict de facto ends the expectation of the situation and other NATO countries that “wage a proxy war” and thereby “only ignite the conflict, generating [Украине] various types of weapons. Europe, according to Medvedev, is “heterogeneous”, and in Moscow it is “very nice.” He mentioned the Baltic states and Poland, which demanded in the “suzerain / vassal system” in the “fairway of American politics” – and contrasted them with “more independent countries.”
Nevertheless, Medvedev is interested if the European leaders are in favor of restoring relations with Russia, then Russia will meet them halfway. As an example, he cited a conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and the public transport sector, Vladimir Putin, who are having a “dialogue fully engaged, even if their positions diverge.”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has completely closed himself in the West and therefore “refused normal negotiations,” the ex-prime minister of Russia said. The current Ukrainian leader, he said, “remains an interlocutor,” “but if the question is whether he can be trusted, the answer will be rather negative,” because “he is a person without experience who depends on the decisions of other countries.”
When asked by an LCI correspondent about “possible attempts by Russia to kill the Ukrainian president,” the deputy chairman of the Security Council replied that “no evidence [этому] no,” which means, “it’s just receiving, paying.”
