Indoor volleyball: domestic victories at the 26th international Eötvös Cup
Debrecen – Eötvös DSE defended its first place among 32 women’s teams. For the boys, DEAC was the tournament winner.
One of Europe’s biggest volleyball army reviews started on Thursday with beach volleyball and ended on Tuesday with the placings of the indoor competition.
We have already reported on the beach volleyball Eötvös Cup. At the indoor Eötvös Cup, the teams fought for the best possible positions over three days. On the first day, in addition to the locations in Debrecen, the ball bounced in Derecské and Püspökladány.
For the girls, they managed to put together an even better field than last year, as twice as many teams entered as a year ago. Among them are several clubs that have previously either won the Eötvös Cup or finished in the top flight. Among them are Kikinda from Vojvodina, GT12 from Kassa; ELBA Presov from Eperjes, Eötvös József Gimnázium from Tiszaújváros, a former amateur student Olympian, Swieqi Phoenix VC from Malta, which has been successful in its home country, MTK Budapest and Vasasnek SC, which are also successful in the domestic championship at the national level, as well as the most recent winner Eötvös Denmark
On the first day of the game, 10 groups took place. The top two teams from the first group of the groups made it to the upper house, where the top teams played cross games with the second-placed teams. At the end of Tuesday, the teams marched in the DEMKI Debrecen Cultural Center and Youth House.
To the ladies’ surprise, ELBA Presov defeated the Maltese champion in the final set, while Eötvös DSE won against Vasas “A”, Kikinda defeated MTK Budapest, and Vasas “B” team won against Kassia.
Thus, OK “KI-0230” Kikinda, Eötvös DSE, Vasas “B” ensemble and the people from Eperjes made it to the top four. Due to the vagaries of the line, the two teams from last year’s final played against each other to reach the final, but Eötvös DSE beat the Kikinda team in a perfectly perfect and tighter game than last year. On the other leg, the team from Eperjes reversed after an easily won Vasas set. The game ended with a “golden” dance of joy, as the Highlanders could not turn around after losing the first set, the U21 team of Eötvös DSE won the tournament without losing a set.
