The 34-year-old sniper has already made his mark three times in preparation for the new team. On the contrary, his former team has not scored so far, which is troubling, Kometa has not scored more than two goals in a single match. “Against Vítkovice, we take it as another preparatory match, where we can test power plays, weakening and overall our new playing style,” Kometa’s summer signing Jakub Flek described for the club’s website.

He is supposed to be one of those who will replace Mueller’s point contribution. However, he can’t be too satisfied just yet, he is still waiting for his first goal or assist in the new shirt, although he started in the first attack in the last two games.
Together with his goals, however, he suspects that there is still plenty of time for the start of the new extra league season. “The training sessions in the last few days have been very demanding, two-phase, and the gym as well. It was a lot, but it’s part of the preparation and we just have to go through it. I have already prepared a lot under coach Martin Pešout, the coach believes in this system and we always had excellent starts in Karlovy Vary. So I believe that we will have a successful start in Kometa as well,” Flek did not panic.
The former Karlovy Vary player started in the elite formation against Olomouc with Petr Holík and Luboš Horký. It was from the three with Holík to the center that Mueller left after the last one. Flek thus offered himself as an adequate replacement from the beginning, but the line-up will still change before the opening league match against Karlovy Vary. “Even now there will be some forced changes on the roster. We played all the games in great fatigue, but that’s part of it,” concluded Flek, who scored 37 Canadian points in 49 league games last year.
