POLITICIANS IN THEIR OWN WORDS The representative of Prague 2 for the Pirates on his Facebook on August 21 to municipal apartments
Prague 2 has hundreds of empty apartments. We will repair and pass them. This will also reduce the lost income of the municipality.
An example can be an apartment on Náměstí Míru repaired for CZK 1,507,286, which was sold by a construction company on December 6, 2019. It was not included in the electronic auction for renting apartments until this year, June 2022. That is, the apartment was empty for 2.5 years and Prague 2 so she lost at least 906,000 CZK for rent at the lowest price, so in reality much more.
That is why we want to focus on the repairs and rental of currently empty municipal apartments, but also on supporting energy savings and improving the quality of municipal apartment buildings (see here). Housing and its availability are clearly among the biggest challenges that cities have to deal with at the moment.
Currently, the problem is the fluctuating level of individual reconstructions under the baton of the Real Estate Administration of Prague 2, which selects construction companies for repairs. Repairs are carried out without consulting architects, only with designers who approach the matter rather technocratically. The bathrooms in most apartments are made of cheap materials, the original bathtubs are replaced by corners and the apartments lack kitchen units. We will change this and increase the standard repairs and equipment of municipal apartments (see here).
