In 2021, Russia produced a record amount of garbage
In 2021, the Russian company built 8.45 billion tons of imports – the maximum in the history of statistics since 2002. This follows from the data of Rosprirodnadzor, which studied analysts of the audit and consulting network FinExpertiza.
Almost 91% of all garbage in Russia is consumed by a mining company: coal (more than 5 million tons of garbage) and metal ore (more than 2.3 billion tons). In addition, special attention is paid to the earth’s crust, water resources and mountain ranges, the extraction of minerals that pollute the air and dust, as well as a special area for waste rock dumps.
The largest contribution to the waste volumes of Russia has decreased in the Kemerovo region, on the territory of which there is one of the largest places in the world of coal production – Kuzbass. In 2021, the region produced 45% of the country’s industrial waste. The Caucasian republic of Ingushetia has the least waste: its contribution to the total mass of garbage in Russia is less than ten thousandth of a percent.
Compared to the year 2002, the Russian enterprise began to produce four times more waste, compared to the year of the pandemic of 2020 – by 21% more, compared to the year of the pre-pandemic of 2019 – by 9%.
Over the year, two-thirds of Russian regions have increased the production of waste, and in some – at times. The Republic of Tyva – more than seven times, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Rostov Region and Buryatia – more than three times, Moscow – more than twice. In this Kamchatka Territory, waste is controlled by 93%, in Kalmykia and Dagestan – by more than 60%.
