I have to learn more iron in the gym, laughs Bohuslávek, a track runner from Brno
The striker scores again. This is also why Líšen can turn matches around
He clocked a personal best of 9.995 seconds in the two-meter individual sprint qualification to make it to the round of 16, where he was eliminated by France’s Rayan Helal. “We thought with the coach that we would go all out for three laps, but it didn’t work out, he was just fast. I’m happy to have qualified under ten seconds for the first time,” he described.
In a packed keirin, he didn’t get to the second round even after a corrective run. “I waited a long time and just slept through it. I’m sad about the corrections, I should have advanced. At least I gained experience and know what not to do next time,” recounted the twenty-four-year-old Bohuslávek.

He still has a lot to learn, after all, he’s been on the track for two years. “I think I’ve already transformed into a track racer, the signs of bicross are more or less disappearing. I was used to just firing and riding, which was good for the team sprint from the beginning, lately it has been lasting longer. I still have to hang around and gather experience. The more races he goes with the best, the closer I will be to them,” he reflected.
In Munich, he showed that he can do more than just starting a team sprint. “I could stay with that, I’m doing quite well, on the other hand, we discovered that it can also work in a sprint, two kilos is not so bad anymore. Keirin is closer to bicross… I enjoy everything and we’ll see what I ride,” thought Bohuslávek.
To compete with the world’s elite track and field athletes, he needs to improve his power endurance. “I have to train so that I can last not only two hundred and fifty meters on the track, but at least eight hundred. I lack strength, so I have to go to the gym more and lift more iron, as they say,” he smiled.
In Munich, the European Championships of several sports are held at the same time, but the velodrome in the pavilion of the exhibition center cut track cycling off from other events. “We were completely outside, nothing around us, all the other sports were at the Olympic center. The velodrome there is small, the audience capacity is low, the races may have seemed attractive on TV, but from the competitor’s point of view they were completely unconventional. I thought I would go to the start for a lap and a half, but it was three laps right from the start,” said the Brno sprinter.
The shooting “marriage” had an anniversary. Kostelecký and Lipták drank rum and cigars
The velodrome measured only two hundred meters, instead of the classic two hundred and fifty. “It was a blast, especially in keirin. I didn’t immediately pull out a number one or two at the start, you can say that it was done. Even the faster guys had a terrible problem pulling forward from behind. I was annoyed that there was not much overtaking on the track. In the 200m race, it was elbow to elbow, there was a lot of pushing, on the other hand it wasn’t very dangerous, it was more likely to fall in the pursuit disciplines than the sprint ones,” added Bohuslávek.
