“The current conditions do not allow us to open the Pony Club next season. » Amine Britel, manager of the guinguette-discotheque, is disappointed, “a bit much” to use his words. Car from September 18, 2022its musical structure lowered the curtain.
Located at the entrance to the Cépière racecourse in Toulouse, the establishment had received, September 9, 2021, a summary filed by some local residents disturbed by the noise pollution. “This is one of the reasons that push us to close,” said the manager.
Orient the scene and studies
Despite these traces, the manager did not want to give up. Thus, he and his team tried to find compromises, in particular by directing the scene in another direction. “It allows for less noise. We also brought in an electro-acoustician to study the power of the decibels. It allowed us to see if it was possible to distribute the music without any problems. It was a tailor-made study,” he explains.
And to continue: “As I said, we are disappointed. But the same can be said of the many customers who visit here regularly. »
Legal proceedings still ongoing
As for the residents, they have been waiting for this decision for a while. Michel Lucas, member of the collective of residents of the Cépière racecourse, which brings together around a hundred people, confirms this:
The closure was our wish. However, this year, thanks to their reorganization, we heard less noise. Important work has been done.
Despite the final judgment of the Pony Club, the judicial proceedings in summary proceedings are still in progress: “We do not know when the decision will be rendered. On the other hand, we will go to the end of the trial. »
Another project?
If the guinguette is going to unplug the amplifiers and turn off the lights, will it be possible to see, one day, a project similar to this one in the Toulouse suburbs?
One thing is certain, Amine Britel does not close the door: “We have leads. But for now, we don’t want to talk about them. We hear people talking, it’s good, it means that the project was working, ”notes the manager. Something to sow doubt about the next destination…
Artists recognized before the end
September 18 has not yet arrived. “We still have four weeks to enjoy,” smiles Amine Britel. In effect, several big names in electro music will take to the stage in the coming weeks.
Among them : DJ Snake, Kungs, Lost Frequencies or Vladimir Nightmare. Enough to offer a beautiful end to the most electro guinguette-ephemeral in Toulouse.
