Dijon. Back-to-school concert on August 26: an exceptional program
The (traditional) back-to-school concert, “Lalalib”, this great free outdoor musical event organized by the City of Dijon and (the concert hall) La Vapeur, is back to mark the start of the Dijon cultural season on Friday 26 August.
This year and after two years of cancellation due to the pandemic, the concert will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a very high quality musical program. Sizes of the current local, national and international music scene likely to satisfy a fairly wide range of audiences, will be to be discovered and rediscovered (by sharing the bill) on two stages: (installed) place de la Liberation and place du Theater.
A wide variety of styles
For one evening, “the styles will mix together, as will the young talents and established artists, we remain faithful once again to the identity of the event”, explains Yann Rivoal, director of La Vapeur. The 20,000 spectators expected for this 18e edition can notably sing and dance to rap, pop, electro or rock notes.
The big names at the top of the bill
Among the ten artists who will punctuate the evening of concerts in the heart of the city of the Dukes, from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m., the Briton will unquestionably stand out Pierre Doherty, former frontman of the group The Libertines who ignited the international scenes in the 2000s. of life”, explains Yann Rivoal. The artist will notably come to present his new album, entitled The fantastic life of poetry and crime, co-signed with Frédéric Lo, guitarist and composer who has collaborated with Maxime Le Forestier, Daniel Darc and Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine. “We felt he was much calmer, more focused on the meaning of the melodies, while finding his still splendid voice,” he continues.
On the main stage, the public will also be able to appreciate the softness and delicacy of Keren Annrevealed in the early 2000s for her written collaborations with Benjamin Biolay and Henri Salvador ( Winter Garden ). “She will come to revisit her repertoire of the last 20 years and will be accompanied for the occasion by the Debussy quartet, for a live performance mixing classical and rock”, specifies the director of La Vapeur.
A little later in the evening and the day before their concert at the Rock en Seine festival, the frenzied sextet of Wife will also ignite the stage of the Liberation with his hit melodies. One of the most breathtaking pieces of Paradigmshis third album, released in the spring of 2021, is called Fuck the mess and this is exactly the effect produced by the group on the French pop scene.
“The back-to-school concert is also a party,” underlines Yann Rivoal. In the same spirit, the producer and Dj Etienne de Crecyinternationally renowned artist who made a name for himself in the 90s as an ambassador of the French Touch “will also come to set the back-to-school concert on fire by bringing his electro touch to the evening”.
Rap and urban pop will not be outdone with doll and Chile, two young artists from Lyon who embody the rap r’n’b of the new French and female scene. One, with her summer rap with reggae influences, who made herself known during the show The Voice in 2019, the other with her muscular flow and her introspective lyrics “and a rather cheeky personality, which affirms her side committed woman.
Young local shoots opening up
In accordance with the philosophy of the back-to-school concert, local talents will also be on the front of the stage, especially at the start of the evening and on the side of the two places in Dijon. The Burgundians in particular find O? NEITHERyoung rapper from the Dijon underground scene “who was a hit with La Vapeur at the end of February during the launch party for his second album, with a very sharp flow” but also Flaur“pop-soul duo from Dijon who are starting to tour well all over France with their music with elegant melodies, tinged with melancholy”, specifies Yann Rivoal or even BiggerBesançon group cradled in the British Beat Sixties, with its pop-rock universe that stands out thanks to powerful choirs as well as sudden sound roars.
For those who prefer jazz, the Lyonnais of Agitatorsa group carried away by the bewitching voice and the energy of the seductive and charismatic Ciara Thompson, offers danceable funk music will also be present.
