Prague without chaos is the name of a new political movement whose goal is to return expertise to the municipality and rid Prague of that very chaos. The leader of the movement and candidate for Prague mayor is Jaroslav Ďuriš. He previously worked as the general manager of Transport Company Praha.
“We can’t watch it anymore. The current state of governance of our beloved city is very sad. Activism, sloppiness, incompetence reign everywhere, no one is responsible for anything, not even in a situation where the deputy mayor is led away by the police in handcuffs. Corruption is rampant at the municipality, which is also transmitted to municipal companies such as the transport company or Pražská plynárenská. This chaos must end,” said movement leader Jaroslav Ďuriš at the start of the campaign.
Among the main goals, they set the restoration of citizens’ trust in the leadership of the town halls of the city districts and the management of the municipality. In the 1st place, they plan to deal with transport – the development of the public transport system, the preparation and implementation of key transport structures, necessary to calm traffic in the city. I also want to solve parking.
According to him, the traffic situation is catastrophic. “The worst thing, in my opinion, is that the last city administration that was interested in the strategic and systematic development of transport in Prague ended in 2010. Then ODS was shut down and TOP 09 and new directions started,” he says.
“We are determined to fight energy poverty. We will respond to the effects of the energy crisis in such a way that the burden does not fall on the citizen’s wallet. We will use all the available options that will relieve people,” Ďuriš enumerates, adding that they also want security and social support.
“We will simply help people in need,” adds Ďuriš.
The movement also presented the candidate for the mayor of Prague 10, Bohumil Zoufalík, who held the position of head of the tenth Prague district for many years in the past. Another candidate for mayor, this time of Prague 13, is Pavel Jaroš.
“Recently, several apartment and office complexes have sprung up in Prague 13. It is necessary to live, but it is also necessary to take care of the construction of what is called civic amenities. Not only new office buildings and possibly new apartment buildings can still be built, but also new schools and kindergartens, medical facilities and others must be built. It is necessary to act responsibly on all of this and it also requires cooperation with the management and the Prague council. Recently, the issue of security has also weighed on our part of the city. This means that we will demand more city police officers on the streets and better security for the residents of our district and the whole of Prague,” Jaroš says about his candidacy.
“Prague 10 has now experienced four difficult years, in which rents rose, taxes increased, and social and health services were canceled. Prague 10 opened its back to the people, but this did not prevent it from taking on a debt of 500 million crowns, which it will repay over the next 20 years. Prague 10 is in chaos and we intend to fix it,” says Zoufalík.
