New bourgeois Prime Minister candidate in Denmark
The leader of the Conservative People’s Party in Denmark, Søren Pape Poulsen, has declared himself prime minister candidate ahead of the next general election.
– We must take care of Denmark, our values and our identity. That’s what I’m running for, and I’m doing it as prime minister candidate, said Pape Poulsen on Monday.
This means that it is now on the bourgeois side of Danish politics who will fight for the prime minister’s job: Pape Poulsen for the Conservative People’s Party and leader of the Liberal Party, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen.
– The most important thing is to get a bourgeois government so that we can overthrow Mette Frederiksen. I think the voters can relate to, says Pape Poulsen about the competition.
Elections to the Danish Parliament must be held no later than 4 June next year. But it is speculated whether Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) will call an election before that time, possibly already during the harvest.
The reason is that the government’s support party Radikale Venstre has stuck to its threat to topple the government over the summer if elections are not called before 4 October. The background is the common mink scandal, Denmark took the lives of over 15 million mink after a mutated corona variant spread among the animals.
