The Prague 1 town hall had a lawn sown on the Anen Triangle
The town hall originally planned to pave the space, cut down the local silver maple and make a passage through the embankment wall, the so-called tentacle, accessible. After it let the land be excavated last year, there was a wave of criticism against the project from some local residents and the opposition. In the end, the city district postponed the transformation of the Anen Triangle area indefinitely.
The municipality recently completed the repair of part of the Smetana embankment, which it had newly paved, widened the sidewalks, planted new trees, created a cycle lane, and in Karlovy Lázně a new stop was created in the direction of the Old Town.
“In this stage of the project, the area of the Anen triangle was modified following the revitalization of the Smetana embankment and the location of the new tram stop. People from the neighborhood will be able to use the modified Anen triangle in this way until the final version of the promised project is completed, after the maple tree has died,” said the spokeswoman of the town hall, Petra Pekařová.
The original project was temporarily postponed by the management of the municipal district. Order for modifications several years ago according to journal public contracts were won by the companies OHL ŽS and Inpros Praha with a price of about 21 million crowns without VAT. According to a recent statement by the mayor, the leadership of Petr Hejma (STAN) talked about increasing the price by about seven million CZK, which the town hall considers uneconomical. At the beginning of July this year, the district councilors therefore approved the termination of the contract. According to the town hall, in addition to the money already paid, I will pay almost 800,000 crowns without VAT for the liquidation of the construction site and operating costs for this year.
