The gold of Siena: not only the Middle Ages? On 11 August, a walk between Baroque and Enlightenment
Is the Sienese artistic and architectural heritage only a medieval jewel? How much of the admiration that Siena arouses also derives from the following centuries? Where do the origins of admirable places such as the Chigiana Academy or the Piazza del Duomo lead? It is in search of answers to these questions that it will raise Thursday 11 August The fourth itinerary 2022 of The Discoveries, the series of walks in Sienese history by the Federagit guides of Siena. With meeting at 9.30 pm in Piazza del Campo (Fonte Gaia), participants will be able to discover or remember glimpses “outside the choir”, perhaps of Baroque origin, and relive the eighteenth-century atmosphere that during the Enlightenment made Siena a very lively city culturally and rich in literary circles , stimulated by characters such as Pope Alexander VII, Giacomo Casanova or Mathias de ‘Medici.
