77 years of Hiroshima & Nagasaki – Anti-nuclear actions in Dijon – Dijoncter.info
August 6 – Commemorations at ECA-Valduc of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima
77 years after the bombing of the city of Hiroshima, more than thirty citizens gathered in front of the ECA (Atomic Energy and Energies Commission) of Valduc, located 45km from Dijon, which maintains 290 nuclear bombs from France. More than 12,700 nuclear bombs threaten humanity !
Like every year, international actions take place on 4 continents
From August 6 to 9, 2022, actions and fasts take place in several cities in France, including 2 in the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region: Dijon and Dampierre (Jura). But also Bordeaux, Épinal, Mont Saint-Michel, Tours, and in Germany, Ivory Coast, United States, New Zealand, Nigeria, United Kingdom. Participants meet:
- in solidarity with the victims of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and those of the more than 2,000 nuclear tests.
- They demand that France adhere to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TIAN). This treaty entered into force on January 22, 2021: nuclear weapons are illegal under international law. Adopted by 122 States in theUN in 2017, the TIAN prohibits the possession, manufacture, use and threat of use of nuclear weapons, thus the strategy of “ nuclear deterrence “. A treaty that the nine nuclear powers and their allies refuse to consider in defiance of respect for international democracy and their own commitments made in particular within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NTP), the Tenth Review Conference of which is currently taking place at the headquarters of theUN in New York, from August 1 to 26, 2022.
Indeed, the article VII from NTP, entered into force in 1970states that Member States undertake to pursue negotiations in good faith on effective measures relating to cessation of the nuclear arms race at an early date and to nuclear disarmament.
These four days of action will also be an opportunity to question Emmanuel Macron, who has just announced a new increase in military spending, including 13 % are devoted to the maintenance and renewal of the nuclear arsenal ; i.e. 5.3 billion euros in 2022.
August 7 – Action against the banks which finance the atomic bombs in Dijon
As part of the international commemorations, from August 6 to 9, of the atomic bombings of Hiroschima and Nagasaki 77 years ago, non-violent and reasoned actions were avoided against the destructive policy of 8 French banking establishments in Dijon, and others in Bordeaux.
Name the climaticidal banks which finance the atomic bombs.
After the commemoration of Hiroschima on August 6 in front of the ECA (Atomic Energy and Renewable Energies Commission) of Valduc, whistleblowers and fasters have taken an original action: they are displaying their own advertisements on eight Dijon banks, but with a comment asking them to stop financing bombard it. The posters are visible and downloadable on the site ofI CAN2017 Nobel Peace Prize, which leads this campaign:

In France, the main organizations (banks and pension funds) involved in the financing of nuclear weapon systems are: Axa, BNP Paribas, People’s Bank, BPCE Group, Carmignac Gestion, Crédit Agricole, Crédit Mutuel, CICDassault Family, Group AG2RLa Française Group, Societe Generale, Oddo BHFViel & Cthat’s to say. Many questions exist about organizations such as the Postal Bank, Macif, Groupama. Banks and financial institutions are a key link in the nuclear weapons industry. By divesting, they can accelerate the stigmatization and elimination of these weapons of mass destruction.
They must adopt the international standard represented by the TIAN (Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, in force since January 2021) in their financial policies.
Switch banks easily.

August 8 – Cities pledge not to be targets for atomic bombs
A new city, Bordeaux, has just signed the Appeal by the cities ofI CANas part of the international commemorations, from August 6 to 9, of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 77 years ago.
They are now 64 French cities or towns that do not want to be a target for atomic bombs, so they have signed:
The Call of Cities for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons
The first was Paris, from 2019, followed by Grenoble, Morlaix, Saint-Etienne, Vénissieux, Villeurbanne, Villejuif, Lyon, Lannion, Bagneux, Cordes-Sur-ciel, whose Mayor was Paul QUILÉS, former Socialist Defense Minister, Grande-Synthe, …
And in the region ?
Besancon signed in 2020, and the Bourgogne Franche-Comté Region voted an equivalent wish in January 2022. Dijon surprisingly refused to sign: the elected environmentalists proposed a wish, which only retained 10 votes.
The Mayor has a full responsibility to ensure the safety of his population. It ensures this through public, health and economic security and a healthy environment. Each of its policies aims to ensure that these fellow citizens live in the best possible conditions.
More than 12,700 nuclear bombs threaten humanity !
And 1,800 are on alert, ready from 15 minutes. France has 290 nuclear bombs and a submarine is permanently ready to fire the equivalent of 1,000 Hiroshima bombs.
A responsible mayor cannot ignore this threat.
Thank you to each citizen for writing to their mayor, and to all elected officials for signing this appeal ! List of 64 cities, information, letter templates…
