The talent of SpeedWolf Debrecen rode against Kvéch, Klima and Chlupac
It was not just any honor for Zoltán Lovas, the young dirt bike rider of Speedwolf Debrecen: he was invited to the second round of the Czech junior championship in Plzen. The cobbler from Hajdúság started as the only foreigner in the competition on Thursday afternoon, and while he and his two companions rode 250cc engines, most of the field raced with 500cc machines. Among the participants, several internationally highly rated young titans started, including Jan Kvéch, who rode in the finals of the Speedway of Nations in Denmark last week, as well as reserve Petr Chlupac, as well as Daniel Klima and Matous Kamenik, who participated in the European Championship with Kvéch from Nagyhalász.
In this field, the only 13-year-old Lovas, who was sent to the competition by his father with the advice that he should treat the competition as a starting strip training, had to stand his ground. Well, the guidelines worked out perfectly, because the Hungarian talent started in five races, managed to win one stage, finished second once, finished third twice, and once finished fourth. Lovas ended the test in 8th place with 7 points, which is a very commendable result.
The Czech U21 champion was decided by a special race, of the two drivers with 14 points, Klima triumphed, so Chlupac became the second. The big loser of the competition was Kvéch, who fell three race wins later and was taken to the hospital with a suspected broken collarbone, so he did not continue the fight.
Zoltán Lovas can next prove himself in the Czech 250 championship in Pardubice next week.
