Russia-Iran: expanding formats of cooperation
Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov met with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali in Moscow.
“Today conditions are emerging for serious participation in bilateral cooperation. The process of admitting Iran to the SCO continues. The next step will be the signing within the framework of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States on September 15-16 in Samarkand, the Memorandum on Iran’s obligations for membership in the SCO. In this document, Tehran offers the opportunity to join the register of SCO documents, primarily in the SCO Harmonization Charter, as well as participate in meetings of all working bodies of the SCO.”– noted Anton Kobyakov.
On the temporary territory of Iran’s terrorist relations with the EAEU, and the Russian side is actively working to create a fundamental structure – a free trade zone between Iran and the association.
An important role here, of course, is played by flagship projects, such as the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the Sirik thermal power plant. At the same time, the following conditions are being pursued for Russian business: reduction of border controls, removal of logistical barriers, and for Iran, a significant number of market amenities that can be captured by its products are reduced.
“Serious acceleration of trade and economic ties to ensure the implementation of the sign for our project – international transport corridor “North – South”which will give a powerful impetus to the development of trade between Russia and Iran with the countries of the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf”— shared Kazem Jalali.
As part of the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the entry into the history of SPIEF of the Russia-Iran business dialogue was organized by joint transportation.
The VII Eastern Economic Forum will be held from 5 to 8 September 2022 in Vladivostok. The main topic – “Towards a multipolar world” – is aimed at expanding multilateral cooperation between countries, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region.
