The largest domestic manufacturer of security technology for railways, AŽD Praha, is facing criticism on social networks for not complying with sanctions against the Belarusian regime. Pictures of the company’s employees in Belarus, carrying out some work on the railway there, have appeared. According to AŽD, however, this is only the most necessary maintenance. Belarus is on the list of countries on which the EU has imposed sanctions due to its connection with Russia.

AŽD Praha spokesman Jiří Dlabaja said that the company is keeping all sanctions measures in relation to Belarus. “Since the outbreak of aggression in Ukraine, on its own initiative, it has not and is not supplying any technology to Belarus, even if it is not subject to any sanctions,” said Dlabaja.
According to him, there are currently several company technicians in Belarus. “It performs only the most necessary actions to ensure that our technologies are in a state that does not endanger the lives of passengers and the public. It has nothing to do with the aggression in Ukraine. For AŽD, this procedure means huge economic losses, but our company has unequivocally confirmed them,” added Dlabaja.
In its statement, AŽD stated that it “fought” hard with Russian companies for each order. “We have been able to beat it with our reliability and quality. By stopping our activity in Belarus, the Russian competition will get a free market without a fight” added Dlabaja. At the same time, they reminded that the company participates in helping Ukraine. “For example, they donated laptops to children from Ukraine so they could study remotely. And of course we will continue to help,” he added.
