“Aliexpress Russia” is included in the list of foreign Internet companies “landed” in Russia
Aliexpress Russia Holding Pte. Ltd. informed Roskomnadzor about the observance of the freedom of laws on “landing”; Based on the results of the verification of the submitted documents, the department represents a group in the list of foreign persons engaged in activities on the Internet in the territory of the Russian Federation, Roskomnadzor reports on Wednesday.
“The company also complied with the requirements of data storage supervision, ensuring the storage and processing of data of Russian citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the message says.
Recall that the law on “landing” It obliges owners of foreign IT resources with a daily audience of more than 500,000,000 users of a local office in the Russian Federation to post a form on the website for representatives of Russian citizens and organizations, to register a personal account on the department’s website.
Companies included in the list of Roskomnadzor face negotiable fines for non-fulfillment of obligations to “land”. The list is updated and supplemented by the department as necessary.
“Aliexpress Russia” is subject to the “landing” law, as it receives funds from Russian individuals and legal entities, on its Internet resource numerical data and advertising in Russian, processing is based on data about users located in Russia. The daily audience of the company’s Internet resource in Russia exceeds 500,000 people.
Aliexpress Russia is a joint venture between Alibaba Group, RDIF, Mail.Ru Group and MegaFon, officially established in 2019. In January 2021, RDIF, together with Middle East funds, bought back a 7.85% stake in the JV from Alibaba Group, resulting in a 47.85% stake in the highest degree, and RDIF’s stake increased to 12.9%. The buyer of MegaFon’s share in the joint venture in August 2021 was USM International, a shareholder of Megafon Soleniy.
