As part of financial support for municipalities in the immediate vicinity, Václav Havel Airport Prague has launched the Good Neighborhood grant program, within which municipalities affected by the operation of the airport can apply for a financial contribution to public benefit projects. The application deadline is set for September 30, 2022.
Prague Airport introduces its own website the rules of the grant issued on August 1, 2022, including the electronic application form. All projects received from municipalities, Prague city districts or public benefit organizations operating in their territory will subsequently be assessed and evaluated with regard to their contribution to the local community, their usability and meaningfulness. Publication of results and signing of donation contracts are planned for this November. Documenting the implementation of the project and invoicing the donation will take place during August next year.
Sports and interest groups, schools and children’s facilities, as well as environmental and other non-profit organizations can apply for funding for their activities. For the municipality itself, the funds provided by the airport can represent a significant increase in the current budget. These are approximately twenty municipal governments.
The transparent grant program Good Neighborhood has been operating since 2007. It had a break during the covid epidemic. Projects with a total value of 100 crowns have been achieved so far from its funds.
Prague Airport also supports the municipalities in its vicinity as part of a non-financial program that it launched during the covid era, when the airport withdrew from direct financial support for economic reasons. There is also cooperation between the airport employees, who use the deployed equipment to help, for example, with tree pruning, street cleaning and other maintenance of greenery and public spaces.
At the same time, Prague Airport opened a new section on its website intended directly for residents of neighboring municipalities named For our neighbors. Here they have an overview of all important information regarding noise measurements in the vicinity, maintenance dates for the main runway, grant programs and events supporting the surrounding communities.
