Monaco and Nice are not immune to the European play-off draw
The European future could darken on the Côte d’Azur. Indeed, Monaco and Nice are not in a position of strength before the draw for the play-offs for the European cups, this Tuesday from 12 noon, in Nyon.
Les Aiglons are not among the top-seeded teams, and the next stage for the Monegasques could be even more difficult if they beat PSV Eindhoven in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
The Principality club could notably face Benfica Lisbon, opposed to Midtjylland, or Glasgow Rangers, finalists in the Europa League last season, who face Union Saint-Gilloise.
Monaco’s third and more affordable potential opponent will be the winner of the match between Dynamo Kyiv and Sturm Graz. The home and away matches will take place on August 16 and 17 and August 23 and 24.
Following their fifth place in Ligue 1 last season, OGC Nice enters the competition for the qualifications for the Europa League Conference directly from the play-offs.
However, the Aiglons may have a big team in front of them on August 18 and 25 as well. West Ham, Villarreal, Fiorentina and Cologne are all seeded unlike the Riviera club.
