PICTURE A major construction site is awaiting the vicinity of the subway station on the new line D. Large-scale housing and administrative projects should be created here, which influence the face of the existing neighborhoods. Planned construction also higher population. Come and see with us how the surroundings of the Krč railway station and Thomayer hospital will change, as well as the completely new neighborhoods that are to be created in Nové Dvory and Libuš.
The first metro trains should run along the new route D as early as 2029. Busy construction sites can already be seen on the route at the well-known stations Nádraží Krč, Nemocnice Krč, but also in Nové Dvory and the Libuš estate. These localities are to be completely transformed in the future in connection with the construction of metro D.
This is what the surroundings of the Nádraží Krč station should look like.
“The metro is a strong urban element and I look forward to the new neighborhoods that will grow around its station. Without it, such a huge investment would not even make sense. The metro is an incredibly strong impulse for a city of short distances, where you should have everything you need within walking distance and at the same time you can quickly get to where you need to go in the city without having to step on the pedals,” says Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček (STAN), who is in charge of the territorial development of the city.

According to him, there is no need to be afraid of a borderless construction without any guardrails. “While the designers and builders focused on the ‘underground’, we worked above them. Together with the land owners, we prepared urban and territorial studies and changes to the spatial plan so that the new neighborhoods were in line with the surrounding construction, thought about public amenities and certainly did not forget about schools, squares and parks. At the same time, we have the opportunity to show that the capital city can build similarly to, say, Hamburg. Where we have land, which is Nové Dvory in particular, the new development will be completely under our control,” explained Hlaváček.
A completely new neighborhood is to grow around the D Nové Dvory metro station.
“Traffic” deputy Adam Scheinherr (Prague himself) also talks about the fact that the implementation of the new metro route D is an incredible amount of work. “Four years ago, we were in a situation where there was no permit or resolved property rights relations with the land owners. Thanks to the fact that we have started to cooperate with the owners of each future D metro station, we are now in a situation where the main construction of the first station has been running successfully for several months,” he noted, adding that plans were also created with the land owners for subsequent development around the stations themselves , which will also bring massive housing construction.

“Metro D is currently the most important infrastructure building in Prague. Thanks to it, you will better connect the southern part of the city with its center. At this time, Prague is facing, among other things, a housing crisis, and it is the projects in the vicinity of the future metro stations that have the potential to alleviate this problem,” explains Ondřej Boháč, director of the Institute of Planning and Development of the capital. m of Prague (IPR).

Of course, there are new parks, squares, shops, but also a polyclinic, a school or a kindergarten,” added Boháč. And we also bring you a brief overview of the development around the metro station on line D in numbers but also in pictures.
