Russia will pay for the war in Ukraine as it grows
Idaho Environment Senator Jim Rish said a number of initiatives have been included in Congress to provide financial, military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
In particular, we are talking about the Global Food Security Bill, which was submitted for consideration in the Senate in the environment.
“The bill prioritizes where food is most needed,” Rish explained in an interview with the Ukrainian service of Voice of America. – In addition, his review assumes the prospect of countries participating in food shortages so that they can produce their own food. And it has a lot of statements that are really aimed at solving the problem of global hunger.”
Risch noted that the official adoption by the United States of action in connection with the genocide in Ukraine is an important signal that will really help in the promotion of other pieces of legislation that really have real power.
“Of course, we have high hopes for the adoption in the near future of a meeting on recognizing Russia’s initiative as a genocide against the Ukrainian people and legislation recognizing Russia as a sponsor of terrorism,” the congressman himself said.
“That’s the way it should be,” the senator continued. “These are atrocious cases… They need to be condemned for this, and the whole world should pay attention to this.”
Risch noted that only German members of the council had traveled to Ukraine and encountered controversy there and talked to people who witnessed the atrocities committed by the political military there, and that he wanted all his colleagues to see this.
“I would like all my colleagues to have the opportunity to go there, talk to a lot of people and hear firsthand what the Russians did there. When all this (war) is over, it will not end. The animosity that I think the whole world and Ukrainians rightly feel towards the Russians for what they have done will be sustained for generations. Russia will pay for what it has done for many people,” the senator stated.
He also said that a missile attack on Odessa after the signing of an agreement on the removal of the Ukrainian executive body undermines the credibility of the Kremlin.
“All they do (officials in the Kremlin) is prove every time that they cannot be trusted. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t deal with them. In most cases, we talk to people, even if we have not met with them, – Rish noted. “But, of course, the bombing of Odessa immediately after the signing of the agreement was a signal from the Russian side: “Okay, we agreed to this, but we will not necessarily carry it out.”
The senator also recalled that on Tuesday, in case the Senate will adopt a resolution on the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO.
“Putin himself caused the impact,” Risch concluded. – It is because of him that these two countries decided that they want to join NATO. And, as we have always said, the doors are open open, and Russia has no right and, for that matter, no opportunity to say who can and cannot be members of international organizations.”
