Russia will be forced to take retaliatory, adequate measures to ensure its security in the event of the discovery of NATO military bases in Finland, in the form of detection of offensive strike weapons. This was announced on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel by the Russian Ambassador to Finland Pavel Kuznetsov.
He reinforced the hope that the “Finnish military-political, foreign policy side” was responsible, that such a development of events did not meet the very interests of Finland.
Meanwhile, Finnish President Sauli Niiniste said earlier that a possible rapprochement between Turkey and Russia would have little effect on the process of admitting Finland and Sweden to NATO. He also added that there were fewer conflicts with Russia at the highest state level. It led to conflicts with the Russian Federation in solving such problems as, for example, border security and traffic safety in the Gulf of Finland.
“As far as I understand, there are currently no big needs for Finland, let alone providing, creating new garrisons or concentrating weapons near the eastern borders,” Niiniste said.
