Because of the technological sanctions, Russia intends to finance its own game movements
Support for an independent Russian gaming movement could require “billions of rubles over many years.”
According to a report by Kommersant, some of the biggest players in mobile technology, including VKontakte, are expected to have billions of rubles in the near future to fund a “national gaming movement in Russia.” A source close to the Russian government claims that Russian tech giants are prioritizing with the Ministry of Advanced Development about funding alternative game engines, such as Unity and Unreal Engine, following the exodus of Western technology from Russia following a special operation in Ukraine.
The Russian government is already talking about its “digital sovereignty” plans, and the implementation of a massive gaming movement has gained momentum since it was put forward at the end of May. Prominent representatives include United Russia Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin and Russian state telecommunications operator Rostelecom, who called the creation of a state movement “an important and urgent task.”
Developing an entirely new game engine from scratch is no easy task, but reinventing that wheel, in demand under heavy sanctions and cut off from its Western partners, is even harder. AMD and Nvidia are widely distributed in Russia, so it is unlikely that any of them will try to support the new engine if it ever appears.
The problems are not limited to the engine itself. Products like Unity and Unreal are popular because they provide a greater availability of resources, tools, and experiences that cannot be created by magic, no matter how much money you put into solving a problem. The Russian takeover will lack the years of external support that more popular engines already have.

So it’s hard to imagine that this is a meeting with a possible gaming movement that can really keep pace with the current giants, and that’s if it was presented approved in full and implemented in the hands. If the Russian gaming industry wants to survive the long night of international international transport, then it is possible. More like Pyongyang Racer than Forza Horizon.
