Russia and the UN discussed the export of consumer goods and additives
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the UN discussed issues of the current supply of grain and mineral fertilizers from Russia to world markets. This was reported in the press service Russian permanent missions at organizations.
The issue was discussed in a telephone protocol by Deputy Minister Sergei Vershinin and Secretary General of the commission of this international organization for development and trade (UNCTAD) Rebecca Greenspan. The latter became the initiator of the discussion.
UN Secretary General hopes for an early agreement on Ukrainian grain
The meeting discussed comprehensively food security, from which tasks were set, which became the above named topic. Vershinin recalled that these Russian products are actively fed to the starving countries of the East and the Middle East. He also assured that, if necessary, Russia, as a responsible supplier, is able to increase its exports. This position provoked a reaction from his interlocutor. The Russian side is already actively cooperating with the UN Secretariat on this issue.
We also remember that this week, in particular, Russia’s assistance in the removal of the Ukrainian executive body, stuck in the ports of the country due to hostilities, was mentioned in particular. Outside of Russia and the UN, at a meeting of representatives, as well as Turkey as an interested importer itself. UN Secretary General António Guterres spoke about the completion of all parties. The participants agreed on the creation of a coordinating center for the export of the Ukrainian consumer and security control at all stages of transportation. In the future, a new meeting is planned, which will be devoted to the technical details of security. Its exact date is yet to be agreed.
