Best Film Fest will return to Prague on July 14 after a two-year break
Traditional event with non-participating cinema Lucerna due to the reconstruction of the Lucerna Palace. The Best Film Fest takes place for the eighteenth time, twice a year since 2011, always in winter and summer. It returns after a two-year hiatus caused by covid and cinema closures. Alice Aronová informed ČTK about this today on behalf of the organizer.
Best Film Fest is based on variety of genres, the dramaturgy of the show was the audience themselves. The program includes, for example, the funny British retro Downton Manor: A New Era, the tragicomedy about partner relationships from contemporary Oslo The Worst Man in the World or the French comedy film, the third sequel in a row, What Have We All Done to Whom? The show will also show the drama about saving the burning symbol of Paris, Notre-Dame, or the summer action Hollywood blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick with Tom Cruise, which in seven weeks in domestic cinemas recorded over 476,500 viewers and earned more than 88 million crowns.
Viewers will also see biographical dramas. Cinemas will show the film Tove about the Finnish painter and Moomin comic book author Tove Jansson or the co-produced film Margrete – Queen of the North with the Danish actress Trine Dyrholm in the role of the ruler of Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
From the Czech films, Best Film Fest will offer a biographical drama with Kryštof Hádek in the lead role The Last Race or a comedy about interpersonal and partner relationships Extraordinary Event and Known Unknown. Among the films for the whole family, there will be the animated film Mice belong to the sky or the fairy tale The Secret of the Old Bambitka 2. The show will also show the documentary René – Prisoner of Freedom directed by Helena Třeštíková.
