Benjamin Lecomte (32) could experience a new adventure in Spain. According to information from RMC Sport, Espanyol Barcelona is negotiating with Monaco for the arrival of the goalkeeper, under contract with ASM until 2024. The two clubs have been discussing the form of the transaction for several days. The option of a loan and that of a dry transfer are on the table.
A white season at Atlético
Lecomte was already playing in Spain last season since he was loaned to Atlético de Madrid, as an understudy for Jan Oblak. But the former Lorient has not played a single meeting with the Colchoneros behind the untouchable Slovenian. He returned to the Principality this summer where the German Alexander Nubel (25), loaned until 2023 by Bayern Munich, will leave again in the shoes of a holder next season. The Polish Radoslaw Majecki (22) retains his number 2 status.
Lecomte wants to find playing time after this white season where he still rubbed shoulders with one of the best specialists in the position. His last match in official competition dates back to May 23, 2021 with ASM.

The player who passed through Montpellier was called up twice to the French team in September 2018 for two Nations League matches (0-0 against Germany, 2-1 against the Netherlands), then in June 2019 during a friendly against Bolivia (2-0 victory) and a qualifying match for Euro 2020 in Turkey (2-0 defeat). But he did not come into play. He has since been relegated to the hierarchy of goalkeepers in the selection.
