Prague – The two-day informal meeting of EU justice and home affairs ministers will continue in the Prague Congress Center. Today’s judicial part of the meeting will focus on current challenges in the context of Russian aggression in Ukraine – the investigation of war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as the digitization of international judicial cooperation and the protection of victims of crimes.
Delegations from Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia are also taking part in the event, which takes place as part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU. The ministers of the member states of the Union will discuss, together with representatives of Eurojust and the International Criminal Court, the issue of collecting and preserving evidence that is needed to prosecute crimes committed on Ukrainian soil.
Other topics of the session will include the civil law protection of vulnerable persons – i.e. people who, for various reasons, cannot protect their interests and, moreover, find themselves on the territory of a foreign state. The delegates will also discuss the digitization of justice, which is one of the priorities of the Czech half-yearly presidency.
