Kindergarten tourism in Prague: parents try to register their children at the town hall
The kindergarten in Klánovice can accommodate 159 children. “Not only children over the age of three got into it, but also some two-year-olds. And four Ukrainian children will also come to us,” explains Petr Vilgus, secretary of Klánovic, who added that mandatory vaccinations are still being dealt with for three children, among other things.
Affidavit
Prague 7 also has rich experience with kindergarten tourism. In the territory of this district, around thirty children are oversubscribed every year before registration. “We have to at least partially make sure that we want a sworn statement from the parents that the child did not register for the seventh grade on purpose because of placement in kindergarten,” Councilor Hana Šišková revealed to Pražský deník.
The creche rang. City halls in the capital are setting up children’s groups instead
He also knows his stuff about kindergarten tourism in Letňany. “We have indications, but it is difficult to prove. In addition, with the current arrangement, our directors, who decide on admission, cannot decide whether someone is registered for permanent residence, which is a valid legal regulation, in the summer or only,” says Mayor Zdeněk Kučera.
His district invested massively in kindergartens in four years. “Thanks to investments of one hundred million, we have increased the capacity by 19 places. Thanks to this, from September, all children over the age of three will start. And even two-year-olds who were born before October 31, 2019,” added Ondřej Lněnička, deputy mayor of Letňan.
Places for two-year-olds and cross-country
In Kolovraty, the town hall opened three new kindergarten classes last year. “And one is intended for so-called “two-year-olds”. From the two-year-old children, all those who will celebrate their third birthday by the end of 2022 will receive it in September,” described Mayor Antonín Klecanda.
All children can also attend catch-up schools in Prague 1, Prague 2, Prague 4 or Běchovice. “In Běchovice, after expanding the capacity of the kindergarten, we are even able to accept several cross-country students,” said mayor Ondřej Martan.
City hall plans in the capital for this year? Education is a priority
From September, the seventh district will also increase the capacity of kindergartens so that all three-year-olds can enter them. “We have already almost covered the necessary places for children from Prague 7. The remaining three-year-old children will be gradually announced at the beginning of autumn at the latest after the completion of new places in kindergartens,” said councilor Hana Šišková.
All children will be able to attend kindergarten in Prague 10 as well. Fewer requests in residential developments, which is related to the demographics of the specific location,” explained Jan Hamrník, spokesman for Prague 10. The capacity of ten kindergartens was already filled after standard enrollments.
“The municipality has a legal obligation to place all its pre-school children in kindergartens. So we will fulfill this obligation. The problem arises with the children of Ukrainian victims of wars, of course no one could count on their arrival,” concludes Hamrník.
