New cases, mask … Is the Covid-19 also blazing in Monaco?
While the circulation of the virus is increasing in France, the principality is also experiencing an epidemic upsurge. Faced with rising indicators, the government is warning.
The incidence is rising. As of July 4, 748 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on average were rejected against 501 the week before and 148 the previous month.
An indicator well below that of the Alpes-Maritimes where 1,364 cases were detected on average on July 2. The positivity rate reaches 26% on Monegasque soil when it is only one point higher in 06.
Within the walls of the Princess Grace Hospital Center (CHPG), 23 people are being cared for following a Covid infection, including 15 residents. None occupy a place in critical care.
Despite these figures, the authorities are procrastinating. Since the start of the health crisis, 13,197 people have been affected by the virus and 12,932 have been found cured.
Call for caution
The government strongly encourages the population to respect barrier gestures as much as possible.
Without being mandatory, the mask is strongly recommended in marked places or public transport. In Nice, this system is making a comeback:
“Everyone from Monday, on the basis of a joint decree that we have taken with the mayors, will wear the mask on a compulsory basis” on “the entire transport network of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis” said Wednesday its president Christian Estrosi.
At the same time, vaccination is again put forward for fragile people, namely those over 60, the immunocompromised and those with comorbidities.
