Strong holders Faris Haroun and Ritchie De Laet will sign a new contract this Sunday. Haroun was in possession of an expiring contract, but will now remain associated with Antwerp FC until at least the summer of 2023. He has been wearing the Antwerp FC shirt since early 2017.
De Laet will therefore also remain associated with the Great Old for longer. He was not in possession of a contract until mid-2023, but put his scribble under a commitment until 2024 on Sunday. De Laet has worn the shirt of Antwerp FC 134 times to date. The centre-back made the step from the U19s to the main squad in 2006, via adventures with Stoke City, Wrexham, Manchester United, Sheffield United, Preston NE, FC Portsmouth, Norwich City, Leicester City, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa on loan back in 2018 to return to the old nest. The ambitions in Antwerp are very high. In 2020, the FC won the national cup at the expense of Club Brugge. But there has been no suitable sequel to date. The Antwerp team came in fourth and fourth place last season. With Overmars in the boardroom and Van Bommel on the couch, they hope to have a shot at the national title next season. That has to be done without Til. The midfielder could earn royally in Antwerp, but opts for the story of PSV. Davino Verhulst, Visar Shala, Anthony Valencia, Scott and Janssen have completely made the switch to the Tawny Owl.
