Zubacka celebrates 120 years. There will be a direct train with a dining car from Prague, Rosnička will also arrive
The steepest Czech railway will celebrate 120 years since the start of operation this weekend. Part of the celebration of the anniversary of the Tanvald – Kořenov – Harrachov line will be special rides with steam locomotive 464.202 Rosnička or a connection from Prague to Kořenov.
The center of the celebrations will be the railway station in Kořenov. On Saturday, passengers without a transfer from Prague will get here by a special train pulled by the Brejlovec locomotive. The set will also include a restaurant car with a menu of hot and cold meals. The train departs from Prague Central Station at 7:00 a.m. and via Nymburk, Mlauda Boleslav, Bakov nad Jizerou, Mnichovo Hradiště, Turnov and Tanvald arrives in Kořenov at 10:07 a.m. It leaves Kořenov at 5:00 p.m. for the return trip on a special train: 47 hours and will reach Prague by the same route. n. at 8:59 p.m. Tickets are sold at ČD ticket offices and on the ČD e-shop. No other travel benefits apply on these special trains and bicycles and strollers cannot be transported on them.
On both weekend days, trains will run on the non-geared part of the line between Kořenov, Harrachov and the Polish Sklářská Poruba, hauled by steam locomotive 464.202 Rosnička. They always depart from Kořenov at 10:12, 13:12 and 15:25. Historic trains with locomotive T426.003 will run between Tanvald and Kořenov. Historic buses will travel to Jizerka. On Saturday evening, there will be a night photo shoot of five locomotives in front of the heating station.
The line from Tanvald to Kořenov is the only cog line in the Czech Republic. The cogwheel is on the track in three sections, which is also why the track is a cultural and technical monument. The track overcomes a height difference of 235 meters in less than seven kilometers.
