Russia’s TV scientists erupt over NATO expansion when Finland and Sweden join | The world | News
Russian TV expert Vladimir Avatkov has criticized NATO as a “cemetery” when the pro-Kremlin commentator blew up Finland and Sweden’s decision to join the military alliance. Avatkov lamented the “logic of the Cold War” among Western strategic planners when he spoke about the importance of the Russia-allied international BRIC bloc of developing countries.
Avatkov told Russia1: “Yes, two more members are joining the NATO cemetery.
“But it’s the atavism of history, after all.
“NATO is going back to the past.
“We’re discussing now – the whole world is discussing, the whole world is not the West, that’s the thing – and the whole world is discussing the issue of the Brics expansion.”
He continued: “The whole world is discussing issues that do not concern the Western world.
“But these comrades are in their old logical framework, the logic of the Cold War.
“They rattle with the sabers and they hope to expose the whole world to that logic.
“The Chinese comrade said is completely correct, the Brics are 3.2 billion people, the G7 is 777 million.
The NATO Secretary General said: “The decisions we have taken in Madrid will ensure that our alliance will continue to preserve peace, prevent conflicts and protect our people and our values.
“Europe and North America stand together in NATO.”
He also said that disagreement between the member states was a strength in the alliance, not a weakness.
“We are different, but we can agree and stand together on the core issues.”
