Influxes of water from above and below: heavy rains raised the levels of some streams
Massive rainfall during thunderstorms from Wednesday evening caused property damage in the vicinity of Prague, but fortunately did not bring a major catastrophe. This follows from the information that Petra Pecková (STAN) published on twitter on the night of Thursday, June 30, both from the point of view of the regional governor and the deputy mayor of Mnichovice in Prague-East.

She first said before half past ten that the night would be difficult for firefighters. She recalled the local view in this context – the Munich Volunteer Corps unit received three calls to leave within five minutes: twice it was necessary to remove a tree that had fallen on the road, in one case it was monitoring the flow of Munich with rising water.
Today will be a challenging night not only for SDH Mnichovice (three trips in five minutes), but for all the other good things in @StredoceskyK and for all pros @HZS_ScK Can you do it. And have the opportunity to relax for a while. ?? ❤️ pic.twitter.com/tCsM2t2AvF

Three hours after midnight, the governor confirmed: in the region, both professional firefighters and members of voluntary corps are “working”. She commented on the current situation: “The levels of small streams have risen in several places, the third degree of flood activity is in Botič (Jesenice, Kocanda) and Pitkovický stream. The water began to fall slowly everywhere about an hour ago. ”She further stated that everything went without evacuation. However, firefighters had a lot of work to do with draining water from cellars and other areas, such as removing fallen trees.

Another two hours later, at dawn around five o’clock, only Botič near Průhonice was spilled in Central Bohemia at the level of the third flood stage. The rising level of Botič is also the biggest concern at night. Especially in Jesenice in Prague-west in the Kocanda area, where several family houses were in danger.
Especially in Botičská Street; confluence with the Osnický stream – the rising water threatened one of the houses immediately. According to Mayor Pavel Smutný (for STAN), however, we managed to create an effective barrier – not only from sandbags, but also from the use of curbs. Both firefighters and citizens are involved in the assistance.
Due to persistent rain, we intervened in Prague from 25 in the evening until 6:00 in 25 cases. These were fallen branches and pumping water from flooded areas.
In 10 cases we monitored watercourses. https://t.co/BwAujUXBP0

Water from the flooded Botič also flooded the road near Jesenice. In Prague’s Nusle, Botič reached the level of the second flood stage, referred to as emergency. In Prague-East, in a short time, the Pitkovický stream, measured in Kuří near Říčany, also became angry for the second time.
According to spokesman Dagmar Zeman, Central Bohemian firefighters were rapidly increasing the weather during the evening – and she also confirmed that it was mainly about removing trees and branches or pumping water from both cellars and lagoons created on the roads; possibly also the passage of channels. The trees also fell on the tracks: they had to be removed from the track, for example, in the Vlašim region or near Zruč nad Sázavou.
With the heat, the rescuers added more trips. For example, the number of collapses is increasing
According to Zeman, firefighters had the most work in Prague-west and in the Benešov region, but it was also busy in the Kolín region. During the night, they recorded a hundred weather-related interventions in Central Bohemia, and firefighters in the capital recorded about a quarter of the number. In Prague-west, early in the morning, water flooded the underpass under the D5 motorway near the petrol station near Rudná. The morning also complicated the passage of fallen trees – for example, after six o’clock on the road II / 611 near Písková Lhota in the Nymburk region.
