Catarina, Yang… What to remember from Wednesday?
Three Monegasque athletes were in competition this Wednesday in Oran, for the fifth day of these Mediterranean Games 2022. Xiaoxin Yang defeated his recipient, Lucas Catarina was eliminated in the quarter-finals and Kevin Crovetto did not finish in the top 10 in the individual all-around competition.
The adventure continues for Xiaoxin Yang. The Monegasque table tennis player, in search of the gold medal, managed to reach the quarter-finals, defeating the Frenchwoman Lutz (11-8, 11-6, 10-12, 11-4, 10- 12, 13-11) then Turkey’s Kulakcenken (11-7, 11-5, 11-8, 11-7).

This Thursday, Xiaoxin Yang can bring the Monegasque delegation its very first medal.
Lucas Catarina at the end of the effort
In tennis, Lucas Catarina (ATP, n°476) gave everything but stopped at the gates of the semi-finals. Silver medalist at the previous Mediterranean Games, the leader of the Monegasque selection in the Davis Cup lost to the Spaniard Lopez Montagud (2-6, 6-3, 3-6).
Tired and unwell, Catarina gave it her all and came out with honors against a clay court specialist, ranked 397th at the ATP.

In gymnastics, Kevin Crovetto placed sixteenth in the all-around final, with a score of 73,600 points. The Turkish Asil was crowned champion with 84,700 points.
