narrowly beaten in Pas-de-Calais, ex-RN candidate Bruno Clavet files an appeal
The defeated RN candidate had obtained only 71 votes less than the elected Nupes candidate Jean-Marc Tellier.
A few days ago, he had promised to “fight until the end”. RN candidate for the legislative elections in the 3rd constituency of Pas-de-Calais, Bruno Clavet filed an appeal with the Constitutional Council on Tuesday, as indicated The voice of the North.
71 vote differences
The municipal councilor of Lens had bowed very little to the candidate of the Nupes Jean-Marc Tellier on June 19 during the second round of voting. Bruno Clavet had collected 16,223 votes against 16,294 for his finally elected competitor. A difference of only 71 ballots which prompted the defeated candidate to file an appeal.
With the help of his lawyer and his teams, for several days he examined the attendance lists as well as the minutes of the polling stations in his constituency and discovered elements likely, according to him, to interfere in the result of the election.
“We have identified, with supporting evidence, 189 elements in 7 or 8 municipalities of the constituency which cast doubt on the sincerity of the ballot”, he indicates to our colleagues from The voice of the North.
This Tuesday was one of the last days to file his appeal in time. As a reminder, each voter and candidate has a period of 10 days following the proclamation of the results to contest the verdict of the election after the Council of Elders.
“During these ten days, the minutes of the polling stations remain available to people who can exercise recourse in the offices of the prefecture”, says the Constitutional Council.
A complaint for electoral fraud
With his appeal, filed on the day of the inaugural session of the National Assembly, Bruno Clavet aims to reverse the course of the ballot and join the 89 deputies from the RN at the Palais-Bourbon.
“It can be long and risky but believe me, I will fight until the end so that it breaks out and that justice is done!”, He assured, last Saturday truth on his Facebook account.
The Constitutional Council will now have to consider itself in the coming weeks on this case. However, he is not expected to make his decision for several months. At the same time, Bruno Clavet also filed a complaint against X for “electoral fraud”.
Asked about the filing of this appeal, the elected Communist deputy Jean-Marc Tellier affirmed for his part to The voice of the North “trust the Constitutional Council”.
