Archbishop Le Saux appointed Bishop of Annecy
Mgr Le Saux, until then bishop of Le Mans, was appointed this Monday by Pope Francis, bishop of Annecy. It will replace Bishop Yves Boivineau whose distribution has been accepted by the Holy Father.
Mgr Yves Le Saux, born on December 24, 1960 in Hennebont in Brittany, in the diocese of Vannes, had been bishop of Le Mans, in Sarthe, since 2008. He will replace at the head of the diocese of Annecy, in Haute-Savoie, Mgr Yves Boivineau who directed it since 2001 and who left it for reasons of age, having turned 75 years old.
Ordained a priest on June 22, 1986 for the diocese of Autun, he was first chaplain of the sanctuaries of Paray-le-Monial and chaplain of the International School of Evangelization Training until 1992, when he became rector of Paray-le-Monial. In 1997, he became responsible for the propaedeutic year Saint-Joseph in Namur in Belgium for the Emmanuel Community for five years. He was then appointed international head of priests, deacons and seminarians of the Emmanuel Community, a position he held until his appointment in 2008 as head of the diocese of Le Mans.
His episcopal motto is “Jesus meek and humble of heart”. He is a member of the Episcopal Commission for Consecrated Life at the Conference of Bishops of France (CEF), and President of the Editorial Board of KTO-Télévision and RCF. His installation mass will take place on Sunday August 21 in Annecy.
