Where to see the Palio on TV and streaming
As mentioned, this year La7 will show live the traditional race in the Tuscan city. Up to now, Rai had broadcast the live broadcast of the Palio di Siena. La7’s offer was 540,000, approximately 67,000 euros at the Palio, almost double what Rai offered. The last experience with a private TV was in 1995, when the rights were acquired by Mediaset for just one year. “For the Palio on 2 July we will start with the live broadcast at 5 pm. Then we will try to understand the best mechanisms”, said the deputy director of La7 Gianluca Foschi. «The uniqueness of Siena and the Palio – commented the mayor of Siena Luigi De Mossi – is history and history, without presumption, is us. For this reason it is right that there is, in the world of the media, the necessary attention and even dedication to this extraordinary example of civilization, undoubtedly unique in the world ». The live broadcast on 2 July starts at 5.30pm and will also be visible in streaming through the La7 website.
