The Brussels VLD says it wants to open its doors even more and therefore opts for the new name.
There were also a number of new prospects for the next election on Sunday. The face of the department remains minister Sven Gatz, but he will be joined by Quentin van den Hove (Schaerbeek), Martine Raets (Evere), Vincent Riga (Sint-Agatha-Berchem), Valérie Libert (Ixelles), Kurt Deswert (Woluwe-Saint-Lambert) and Ethel Savelkoul (Etterbeek).
In terms of content, the liberals want to focus on the economy, education and a better society. For example, the team wants to work with the business community to create a community school with an eye for diversity, connection and participation.
For the newcomers, open.brussels wants to use a network of buddies in addition to an integration course. Helping newcomers find their way around the city, public services, education, leisure facilities and the labor market.
Flemish Parliament Els Ampe, who has expired on the Brussels Open VLD list, reacts incensed. The name change during the congress is not up to the vote of members, she says. “I am stunned. Where is the member democracy?” Ampe candidate that she will be again in 2024.
