LUXEMBOURG – For its premiere at Luxexpo The Box, the Anime Focal Expo won over very young manga fans.
“Entering a convention with our costumes, we have the impression of entering another universe where we can be ourselves”, smiled yesterday at Luxexpo The Box, Madita, 19 years old. The Frenchwoman, flanked by her group of friends from Luxembourg, was one of more than 6,000 visitors to attend the Anime Focal Expo on Saturday and Sunday, the first major convention in the Grand Duchy specially devoted to manga and anime.
“For a first, it’s very well organized, confirm Sabrina and Laetitia, 26, from Moselle, who, with their friends, are used to scouring manga conventions in France. We bought works to support the artists present and of course figurines ”. The young women had also emptied the hairspray bomb in order to embody the characters of “Fairy Tail” (fantasy manga) and “Food Wars” (culinary manga).
“A reflection on society”
Shy, 13-year-old Alexandra from Luxembourg sported blue hair and the outfit of her favorite star, Hatsule Miku, a virtual singer with a synthetic voice. Teteh, 21, Madita’s boyfriend, opted for Baji, from ‘Tokyo Revengers’. “I like the character’s aesthetics and personality,” comments the young man.
“The manga are varied and allow a reflection on society”, appreciates the resident, Cécile, 49, who came to please her 12-year-old daughter, a k-pop fan.
