Albert of Monaco absent: this event which moved his sister Caroline to tears
Currently traveling in Norway, Prince Albert was unable to pay his last respects to a Monegasque firefighter who died in the fire during an intervention. Her sister Caroline took over with a lot of emotions.
A relative of the main Monegasque family has died. On Monday June 20, the Prince’s Palace announced sad news on Instagram: “HSH Prince Albert II learned with great sadness the death, yesterday, in the exercise of his functions, of Sergeant Thierry Perard.“Before continuing:”For the first time in its history, the Principality’s firefighter unit loses one of its own, in operation in the performance of its duty to save lives.” A tribute was therefore paid in the absence of Albert II, currently in Norway with his family.
According to Royal stories, it was his sister Caroline of Hanover who attended the sergeant’s funeral, on behalf of the main family. Present to convey condolences, the prince’s sister was taken by grief during the ceremony led by Bishop Dominique-Marie David. Behind his sunglasses, a few tears flowed. But with great dignity she wiped away the tears of the relatives of the deceased and hugged them for a long time. Despite his absence, Albert II was represented by his aide-de-camp, Colonel Luc Fringant. And he also let it be known that he regretted”reinforced not to be personally present at the national tribute” which was returned to the firefighter on June 24.
