The mayors of Prague’s city districts are demanding more money from the municipality, influencing the operation of the city police (MPP) or solving the problem of placing children of Ukrainian refugees in schools. The spokesman of the first city district, Petr Bidlo, told ČTK today on behalf of the Assembly of Mayors of Prague 1 to 22, which met in Žofín. For this year, the municipality has allocated a total of 5.14 billion crowns from its budget for the operation of city districts, which is 122.6 million more resources. They receive additional money from investment, non-investment or extraordinary subsidies.
According to the spokesman, the mayors consider it essential that in the proposal of the so-called subsidy relations, ie money that the municipality gives annually from the budget for the operation of town halls, the contribution for 2023 should be at least at least about inflation. The parliament also called on the city to negotiate with the state to compensate for the deficit caused by rising inflation and energy prices. and also demanded the compensation of the deficit of costs for the performance of the delegated powers of the state administration. At the same time, however, the mayors appreciated the financial support of the municipality in addressing the effects of the refugee crisis, which it provided them.
Better coordination
The Assembly called on Prague to coordinated a joint approach with the city districts in the placement of Ukrainian pupils to the first years of schools and that in the absence of capacity of primary schools financially, by lending municipal land, borrowing real estate or the supply of so-called modular buildings.
The mayors said that The big problem is the lack of police officers and that the town halls do not affect the functioning of the MPP or the number of city police officers. They therefore asked the city councilor to prepare a proposal to amend the organizational rules of the MPP. The aim of the regulation should be to strengthen the powers and influence of town halls on district directorates.
