The Russian embassy in Oslo handed over to most of Norway a note and a letter from the best Arktikugol trust with the delivery of goods to the Russian settlement in Svalbard. This was announced by the Consul General of Russia in Svalbard Sergey Gushchin on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.
“As for solving this problem, we raised this issue with the governor of Spitsbergen at a meeting on May 18, the management of the Arktikugol trust wrote an appeal on May 25 to the governor of Spitsbergen with access to freedom from the ban on the transit of Russian road cargo. And the Russian embassy accompanied this letter to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with its own note, which requires the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to rule out such exceptions, ”said Gushchin. Now this issue is under consideration by the Incident Foreign Ministry. Russia hopes for a positive decision, the Consul General added.
Gushchin said that since April 30, two containers with a family of tons of food, as well as with industrial goods and the main ones for ships and cars, have been standing on the border with Norway since April 30. Norway has suspended transit traffic through its territory as part of the ban against Russia.
Due to Russian special operations in Ukraine, the EU has introduced ranks against Russia. Earlier, Lithuania decided to ban rail transit of sanctioned goods from Russia to Kaliningrad on its territory. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis managed the issues of his powers, noting that this is a solution to the problem. However, Lithuania later expanded the ban on road freight transport.
