In the men’s BL, Spain’s Ciudad Real, which no longer exists, was able to defend the title last time, but after repeating its success in 2008 a year later, the four-time final in the most prestigious European Cup series was introduced and no team has even met in Cologne. title protection, until now.

The two teams were in the same group this season, and Kielce was able to win at home (29-27) and away (32-30).
The Spaniards lacked Luís Frade, the other side Faruk Yusuf and Haukur Thrastarson.
Barcelona started better, stepped 5-2 with more accurate play, leading by three hits even in the 18th minute. Five minutes later at 12-10, it was not yet possible to guess that this was the last two-goal difference between the teams. The Poles became more and more calm and ordered, so they equalized in the 25th minute (12-12) and were 14-13 during the break.
At the beginning of the second half, Kielce led again after 1-0, and as the teams continued to lead fast action against disorderly defense many times, there were more hits than usual. The goals were taken alternately for more than ten minutes, with Kielce taking the lead but the defending defender equalized and the Spaniards turned in 12 seconds. After one ball, Barcelona attacked for a two-goal difference in the last minute, but Dika Mem made a mistake, with Arcem Karalek scoring in the final second, resulting in a five-minute overtime.
In the second half of the time, the Poles took the lead back, but they couldn’t keep it, their opponent equalized, so the fate of the gold after the bronze medal was decided by seven meters. Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas saved his compatriot Alex Dujshebaev’s shot and, as no one else made a mistake, Barcelona won.
Among goalkeepers, Pérez de Vargas and Andreas Wolff also presented 12 defenses.
In the 12th BL match between the two teams, with six Barcelona and three Kielce wins, regular time was tied for the third time.
There has been at least one Croatian player in every final since the 2012 men’s BL final, the same is true for the Spaniards and Slovenes since 2014, and this is the fourth time in a row that Brazil has been on the pitch in the final. None of the series was interrupted in Sunday’s game.
For 3rd place:
THW Kiel (German) – Telekom Veszprém 34-34 (14-18), with seven meters: 3-1
