The head of NOVATEK: Europe is waiting for an energy crisis, and Russia will go where it is “sent”

If the situation with the rejection of Russia’s energy resources worsens, Europe will face an energy crisis. This, according to Interfax, was stated by the head of “NOVATEK» Leonid Mikhelson during his speech at the SPIEF.
In the words, in Europe “there has been a fundamental change in its LNG market.” Since January 1, the current Europe’s consumption of this energy carrier has increased by 50%, and the development of events shows that due to the replacement of such an amount of Russian energy resources by the Western formidable energy crisis. “If the same dangerous prospects are observed, this is,” Mikhelson said, recalling that due to fears, factories are closing and there are fewer jobs.
At the same time, Russia goes where it is “sent” – to the east. The Russian market is China, India, goods, a number of Asia-Pacific countries and South America. NOVATEK has confirmed that it is currently possible to travel east along the Northern Sea Route 9-10 months a year, and with the construction of icebreakers from 2024, it will be possible to transport products through dispersion all year round.
Mikhelson also said that large-tonnage technology-based LNG production would be possible in Russia. The cost of building one LNG line using Russian technology “Arctic Cascade” for 1 million tons per year is about 400 billion rubles.
