VZGLYAD / Russia experienced at the speed of the air war of the future :: Society
Russian Su-57s began to carry out combat missions during special operations in Ukraine in units. These fighters enter into a single information network, in which they can exchange data on the radar field, identified targets, coordinate the actions of others with the detection of hostilities. What is the value of testing for the fifth generation coronavirus in conditions of infection?
During special operations on the territory of Ukraine, four-time Su-57 fighters operated in a single information network in order to combat air defense. This was announced on Thursday by an information source.
Information that Su-57s were involved in the special operation appeared in news agencies at the end of May. A TASS source then said that the fifth-generation multifunctional fighters began work in the Donbass and Ukraine two to three weeks after the start of the operation. It was noted that fighters can operate outside the air defense coverage area and hit targets with the help of missile weapons. According to the results of observations, the aircraft were found among those detected by Kh-31PM high-precision missiles with a detection range of up to 60 kilometers, which allows the Su-57 not to enter the Ukrainian air defense coverage area.
“In addition to the small number of means for air defense, among the main employed fighters is the ability to provide data between aircraft, which greatly expands strike and reconnaissance capabilities. For example, one plane detects a target, and the second one strikes, ”Dmitry Drozdenko, columnist for Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, explained to the VZGLYAD newspaper. According to him, during special operations to test the data exchange system between aircraft. “This can happen in tandem with other Su-57s or the Su-35S 4++ generation fighter, as well as ground stations,” the military expert says.
Honored military pilot of Russia Vladimir Popov also encountered the fact that the Su-57 is quite well coordinated with other combatants and transmitting data to them. The interlocutor also mentioned the means of automatic control of the aircraft. “In fact, the turntable is such a system that carries out the presence of the co-pilot. This helps in the issue of choosing a target, and in aiming, and in clarifying the coordinates, ”explained Popov.
It can be said that the Su-57 leader was multitasking, the military expert added. “If, for example, Bayraktar is launched in the sky, then we can launch its attack, while at the same time continuing to engage in various tasks: to carry out the flight route, maneuver and control ground targets,” the military pilot explained. At the same time, Popov noted, the Su-57 is quite simple to operate, since
a lot of delegated car: it is able to control the action of the pilot and helps to avoid mistakes.
Each individual Su-57, as a combat unit, is quite effective – launching missiles and bombing is different from the high consumption and safety, Popov added. “The maximum circular deviation is about ten meters,” the interlocutor specified. “That is, if we, for example, work on a bridge in the territory of penetration, then we can aim at the support, and not cover the entire structure.”
“We are studying the potential of the Su-57 and the tactical capabilities are outlined in combat conditions. This is very valuable,” the honored military pilot of Russia assembled.
Su-57, or according to NATO protection Felon (“Criminal”), is a fifth-generation multifunctional fighter, which was created as part of the PAK FA program (Advanced Aviation Complex of Front-line Aviation). According to experts, Russia has become a major country in the world, after the United States and China, which has adopted a fifth-generation fighter, a product of its own aviation industry. The first flight of the “fifty-seventh” took place in 2010. Since December 2020, the serial delivery of vehicles for the use of videoconferencing has begun.

It is worth noting that back in 2018, the planes protested against the Palestinian theater of operations. After that, by the way, Turkey raised the issue of acquiring this Russian fighter, which is superior in capabilities to the American F-35. The issue of buying the Su-57 by the Turks has not been deregistered even now.
“The use of the Su-57 in diagnostics, where there were no air defense systems and such a powerful military group, is child’s play compared to what is happening in Ukraine,” Drozdenko. “Perhaps the testing of the new fighter is taken in opposition to real air defense.”
Su-57 is a new machine, being finalized, assembled by the interlocutor. “Military operations with its help allow you to work out equipment, pilot and launch the aircraft on its own.
The operation of the Su-57 in Ukraine shows the capabilities of the fighter, how unnoticed it is for diseases, how it analyzes radar fields, how the connected exchange of information, ”said Drozdenko.
Currently, the military is discovering “it is necessary to understand how these systems work in the link of interference from the side of perception, as well as in dueling phenomena,” in turn, Popov.
Experts do not assume that in combat conditions not only the interaction of the Su-57 in units, but also unmanned flights in conjunction with pilot aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be worked out. As reminds “Russian newspaper”, in 2019, test flights of the Su-57 paired with the S-70 Okhotnik heavy attack drone took place at the Ashuluk Astrakhan training ground. The algorithm of interaction between the fighter pilot and the UAV automation revealed that the pilot receives information about air contamination, for example, about the infection of a fighter at a long distance, at which the ejection cannot be broken by an air-to-air missile. After that, the Su-57 gave the command to the “Hunter” – what target and what missiles to attack.
At the end of May RIA News Reported: “Okhotnik” conducted tests of firing on ground-controlled guided missiles “air-to-surface”, which include the composition of the Su-57. “The device can freely hit small-sized camouflaged targets with missiles at different times of the day in any conditions,” the publication noted.
It should be noted that in the same days, the head of the Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, said that “in the near future” high-precision drones would be supplied to the Russian troops. According to an expert on unmanned systems Denis Fedutinov, we are talking about the detection of Altius devices – high-altitude UAVs, long flight duration, combining reconnaissance and strike functions (the maximum combat load of the device is exceeding a ton). Portal “Military reviewThe meeting that “Altius”, like “Hunter”, can independently, that is, without the owner of the land, in combination with the Su-57 fighter.
“The pilot of the Su-57 can assign objects to the drone for destruction on the ground, for example, an air defense source. Next, a pair of UAVs in front of the fighter, controlled by operators, and in some cases, maybe even artificial intelligence, destroy targets. The Su-57 launches operational-tactical air defense missiles, ”said Dmitry Kornev, a source for the Russian Armed Forces portal. “Thus, the Su-57 and the Okhotnik work in a single information field of a combat operation. Network-centric wars of the future suggest just such a model of strikes,” the source said.
According to the expert, in this way the air link receives a significant increase in power. “In addition, in this way we save the life of the pilot and the French Su-57, which ideally should not start in direct contact with the enemy. By the way, training a pilot for a fifth-generation fighter costs dollars, so in this way we have increased the financial efficiency of operations, ”the analyst emphasized.
At the same time, it is observed: the work of the Su-57 in conjunction with the UAV in maritime conditions is not a matter of the day, but of the future, although it is approaching. “On the occasion of the use of drones with fifth-generation Su-57 fighters in the area of Russian special operations, it can be said that the production of drones has not yet been acquired by Kornev. “It is possible that experimental testing was carried out, as previously in the Astrakhan region, only now in combat conditions,” said Dmitry Kornev, founder of the Military Russia portal.
The Su-57 was designed to work in conjunction with strike drones, but the Russian UAV “has not yet reached the level of being able to fly in digital pair with fighters,” in turn, Drozdenko’s air force. “What we were ordered at the Ashuluk training ground, where test flights of the S-70 Okhotnik heavy drone with the Su-57 took place in 2019, was a simple pair flight. One aircraft was controlled by a pilot, and the other by an operator from the ground. That is, we are not talking about the full exchange of data with the UAV. But in the next five years, this topic will be highly developed – up to the point that reconnaissance unmanned helicopters will appear, ”Drozdenko drew attention.
The Kronstadt company, the expert recalled, previously exhibited at the exhibition a prototype of the promising Thunder unmanned aerial vehicle, which is smaller than the Okhotnik and “imprisoned for duplicating work with fighters.” “Thunder” is made by analogy with the predictions of “Valkyrie”. Two or three of these strike-reconnaissance UAVs are combined with a fighter,” added one expert.
