Canada bans exports of 28 ‘essential’ services to Russia
Canada on June 8 expanded sanctions against Russia. This was reported on the website of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Cooperation with oil and gas and chemical enterprises fell under the new ban. They are prohibited from employing 28 types of “essential” services, including construction and engineering work, transportation of oil and gas, sale of metals, ores, timber and chemicals.
The oil, gas and chemical industries account for about 50% of the revenues of the federal budget of Russia, the Ministry of Defense of Canada. Sanctions in progress in response to “the ongoing blatant and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.”
