Modern city with quality architecture. Read how Czechs perceive Brno
The Czechs consider the heart of the South Moravian Region, ie Brno, to be a modern and progressive city with excellent shopping opportunities. In this spring’s research, ninety percent of respondents named it a university town, and Brno sees the same number as a well of attractive cultural monuments or a city of quality architecture.

Many respondents consider it easily accessible by train and car. On the other hand, people identified moving the car directly in the city and the availability of housing, which according to them is insufficient, as the biggest problems.
Previous research was conducted by researchers five years ago. Since then, agreement with the quality of social care or a friendly environment for pensioners has increased. “If we look at the analysis in more detail, the city was better rated by respondents who like Brno. On the contrary, respondents with a negative attitude towards Brno have weaker agreement. Higher agreement also appears among those who studied in Brno or regularly commuted to the city, “described the results of research by specialist Eva Gregorová.

At the same time, the project included connections that people attacked most often in connection with Brno. Almost half of the respondents considered the most significant connection between the South Moravian metropolis and the fairs at the exhibition center, followed closely by the Brno dam and monuments such as the cathedral in Petrov, Špilberk and the Brno underground. “On the contrary, there was a decrease mainly in associations with the city of culture, by seven percent, and the international city,” Gregorová added.

Come and see the outdoor exhibition with each year, this year’s one started last week and will last until the end of June. “People know Brno thanks to everyday experience, but with the help of hard data they can get an even more accurate idea of life in it. Every Brno citizen, and not only him, will find out how many children were born in the city last year, how many people drive in Brno or how high the population is and what makes it possible. People will also find Nové Brno in numbers at the exhibition. The panels are located in a location that relates in some way to the content of the infographics, “outlined the mayor’s deputy Tomáš Koláčný.
In the streets of the city, people will learn that last year the city was inhabited by exactly 379,391 people who have a permanent residence in Brno. Compared to 2020, this is a decrease of approximately three thousand, according to researchers, the reason is also higher mortality during the coronavirus pandemic. On the contrary, the number of foreigners working in Brno increased, in the past year there were about forty thousand. These were mainly Slovaks, Ukrainians or Vietnamese. However, due to the Russian aggression in Ukraine, more significant changes can be expected this year.
