Toulouse. “Cabu’s Laughter” exhibition: already more than 10,000 visitors welcomed
The Occitanie Region has been hosting, since May 3, in the Hôtel de Région of Toulouse and on the forecourt of the Hôtel de Région of Montpellier the exhibition “Le rire de Cabu”.
More than 10,000 visitors have already had the opportunity to (re)discover Cabu’s worksthe subjects that were dear to him (consumption, society, culture, women, young people, idiots, politics) and his struggles (ecology, pacifism, freedom of expression).
Presented in the heart of the Hôtel de Région in Toulouse, until July 3, the exhibition “Le Rire de Cabu” offers 400 cult drawings, many of which have never been seen before, 400 bursts of laughter. These are exceptional reunions with his emblematic characters such as the Grand Duduche, the Beauf, Warrant Officer Kronenbourg, or his drawings for the Dorothée show. It is also an amused wink at our region with a special Occitanie selection as well as an overview of its unforgettable masters and friends.
In Montpellier, on the forecourt of the Hôtel de Région, a device of 24 tarpaulins on the theme
“Cabu, all-terrain draftsman” is deployed, in partnership with the Occitanie Press Club and the Paul-Valéry Montpellier University, until August 31.
“Already more than 10,000 visitors have visited this unique exhibition in the region. In order to allow as many people as possible to rediscover its famous characters, but also its fights, we are extending the exhibition in Toulouse until Sunday July 3. I remind you that it is free and open to all because there is a cultural issue there but also an education in citizenship for the youngest. The school contributes to the transmission and awakening of consciences, which is why I wanted to offer visits to schoolchildren in the presence of mediators”, Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie Region.
“Cabu’s Laughter”: a participatory exhibition open to schoolchildren
Welcoming young people and schoolchildren is privileged with a specific route accompanied by a game booklet for 7-12 year olds (available on request at the entrance to the exhibition). A booklet for teachers is also available, allowing them to prepare their visit and extend it in class with the students. School visits are carried out by cultural mediation agents.
In order to facilitate the reception and arrival of schoolchildren, teachers are invited to contact Mrs. Charlotte Miquel (04.67.04.08.07 / [email protected]) in charge of cultural mediation.
The next visits:
– Wednesday, June 8 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.: the senior class of Berthelot high school in Toulouse, option law and major challenges of the contemporary world will visit the political part of the exhibition as well as that devoted to freedom of the press;
– Friday, June 17: 5th grade classes from Montréjeau college will visit the exhibition with a focus on ecology;
