In Toulouse, the return of violent thefts of charcoal burners in the street
For several days, with the return of the sun, passers-by in Toulouse have been victims of thefts of gold charcoal burners. A plague.

This Friday afternoon, around 2:30 p.m., in the Chalets sector, a 44-year-old woman paid the price. A man attacked her to tear off her necklace. Quickly notified, the police intervened to arrest the thief. In the confusion, the suspect swallowed the jewelry. He is under hospital supervision pending the expulsion of the object.
Similarly, during the night from Friday to Saturday, around 5:30 a.m., at the exit of a nightclub, on the side of Place Wilson, the police officers of the intervention company were called for what looked like a fight. When they arrived, they quickly realized that two men had attacked a group of drunken boys. They had torn off the necklace in or from one of them. The two suspects, aged 22, were arrested and the coal recovered.
Two men tried in the week
Already on Thursday, around 10 p.m., a young man had his chain stolen violently near the Jean-Jaurès metro. His assailant had hit him on the chest with the flat of his hand while tearing off the jewel. The suspect was finally arrested by the BAC at the Matabiau station.
During the week, two men were tried for similar facts by the criminal court in the context of immediate comparisons. The images shot by the CCTV cameras made it possible to understand their modus operandi. Around 5 a.m., they had accosted a group of young people, still in the area of Boulevard Carnot. While one was talking to distract the victims, the other grabbed the necklace. During the night, they had acted on at least two occasions, against a backdrop of alcohol.
“It ruins people’s lives”
Arrested, the thieves first tried to deny. “You said that the necklace with the first name Jérémy was yours”, notes the president. “I drank too much that day and I apologize to the authorities. When I don’t drink, I am an exemplary person”.
For the Prosecutor, the two boys had “determined roles. They were spotting their victims who had partied.”
And to point out: “Yes people want to get together. Yes people want to have fun. It was not possible for two years. And yes people will be imported by these two. It ruins people’s lives.”
In accordance with the requisitions, they were sentenced to four and six months in prison with continued detention.
