Olympic trap winner Lipták won the World Cup race in Baku
The reigning Olympic trap shooting winner Jiří Lipták won the World Cup race for the third time in his career in Baku. The 40-year-old Brno native did not miss any of the 35 targets in the final.

Lipták advanced to the six-member six out of sixth place. After the basic part, the champion from Tokyo shared third place and succeeded in a shootout of eight opponents by six places. In his four-member semifinal, Lipták was second after missing one of 25 shots, and in the final he was already flawless. Kuwaiti Talál Rashidi finished second, and Daniele Resca, Italian.

Lipták started for the second time in the World Cup this year, in April in Lonat he was tenth after an unsuccessful shootout for the final. With Monday’s triumph, he followed up on the winnings from Beijing 2014 and San Marino 2016.
The 2008 Olympic winner and last year’s silver medalist David Kostelecký lost the better result on the second day of qualifying. After the first, he was at the top of the standings after only one of the 75 asphalt pigeons flew. But in the remaining two items of 25 targets, he always made three mistakes and fell into the top ten to 27th place with the loss of two shots.
In the competition of 110 shooters, Pavel Vaněk (16th) outperformed her out of five Czech representatives. Vladimír Štěpán recorded the same result as the Olympic champion from Beijing in 23rd place and Fabio Beccari scored one more mistake (36th).
In the women’s competition, Zina Hrdličková took 26th place. In the next two days, trap shooters will still compete in teams and mixed pairs in Baku.
